Hi, I’m Alex! I’ve been teaching JC Math for over 10 years, both privately and as an ex-tutor at Indigo. My F2F lessons used to cost minimally $85/hr, but now that I’m based in Japan, I can bring the same quality to you online — at a much friendlier rate.
Online tuition can feel different at first. But here’s the thing: no long commutes, no rushing after school, and no wasting time in MRT breakdowns. Lessons are still personal, interactive, and focused on you, only with more flexibility and comfort.
There are plenty of options out there, but at mathing, students learn more with less — less money and less wasted time!

What's your experience?
I’ve been teaching JC Math for 10 years, both privately and an ex-tutor at Indigo. I’ve worked with students from all kinds of schools and even without A-math backgrounds, so I know how to adjust lessons to fit different needs (read more by clicking credentials in navigation bar) .
How do you conduct your lessons?
Lessons are Zoom with shared screens, and if you're using a tablet, I can see your screen too! I explain concepts step by step, then we practise questions together. You’ll always get a mix of guidance, practice, and exam strategies — not just “watch me solve.”
What's the duration of each class?
By default it's 1.5hours long, but it's subjected to the needs of the students! For example, if you'd prefer consultation-style tuition, I'll just note down the time spent! If you'd prefer to go through both content and drill questions, 2 hours (5 min break in between) will be recommended!
Can i use my school's materials instead (for 1-1 students)?
Yes, definitely! We can work through your tutorials, lecture notes, or any other resources you’re using. I’ll also share extra practice and summaries when needed, so you get the best of both.
Can i have a trial lesson?
Yes, and I highly recommend it too! Trial lessons is always a good way for us to see if my teaching style suits you. Just reach out and we’ll arrange a time!
What are the rates for a trial lesson?
Trial lesson is 1.5hours long at a flat rate of $50, $40 and $30 for 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 lessons respectively. No commitment, no hidden cost and definitely no hardselling (I'm terrible at it too anyway).
Any referral benefits?
Of course! For each friend that you've referred and continued with the tuition, you get $25 cashback through paynow/paylah!
What's your A rate?
All of my students improve by at least 20 marks (that's 4 grades equivalent), and majority end up with an A at A-levels. That said, I care less about statistics and more about making sure you really understand math and feel improvement!
Can you guarantee an A or B?
If you can promise to do 4 x 3hrs papers a week every week without fail, in addition to 2 x 2hrs tuition a week for 1.5 years, I'm 95% sure that you can get A or B.
Conditions aside, I can guarantee that you will learn something in class - but to achieve a good grade, relying solely on tuition is never enough! Effort has to come from both the student and the tutor!
